What is a blind flange and what are the precautions?
The formal name of the flange blind plate is Flangecover, and some are also called blind flanges or pipe plugs. It is a flange without a hole in the middle, used to seal the pipe opening. The function is the same as that of the head and pipe cap, except that the flange blind seal is a removable sealing device, and the seal of the head is not intended to be opened again. There are many types of sealing surfaces, including flat surfaces, convex surfaces, concave and convex surfaces, tongue and groove surfaces and ring connection surfaces. Materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, copper, aluminum, etc.
Flange blind plates are flange pipe fittings, which refer to pipe fittings with flanges (flanges or plates). It can be cast, threaded or welded. Flange connection refers to a pair of flanges, a gasket and several bolts and nuts. The gasket is placed between the sealing surfaces of the two flanges. After the nut is tightened, the specific pressure on the surface of the gasket reaches a certain value and then deforms, filling the uneven spots on the sealing surface to make the connection tight and leak-proof. Flange connection is a detachable connection.
The flange blind plate is mainly used to completely isolate the production medium and prevent the shut-off valve from being closed tightly, which will affect production and even cause accidents. The flange blind plate should be installed in the parts that require isolation, such as the equipment connection port, the front and rear of the shut-off valve, or between two flanges. It is often recommended to use an 8-shaped blind plate; it can also be used for one-time use parts such as pressure and purge. Use plug plates (round blind plates).
Precautions for flange blind plates:
1. On the premise of meeting the process requirements, set up as few blind boards as possible.
2. The blind plate set must indicate normal opening or normal closing.
3. The location of the blind plate, upstream or downstream of the cut-off valve, should be determined based on the cut-off effect, safety and process requirements.
