At the opening ceremony of the 133rd Canton Fair and the Second Pearl River International Trade Forum held on the evening of April 14, Wang Shouwen, international trade negotiator and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce, said that the Canton Fair is a trade bridge connecting China and the world, and has made important contributions to serving international trade, promoting internal and external connectivity, and promoting economic development. This year’s Spring Fair, also known as the 133rd Canton Fair, has fully resumed the offline exhibition, which has attracted wide attention and expectations. The Canton Fair has opened a new pavilion with a total area of 1.5 million square meters. Nearly 35,000 Chinese and foreign enterprises will participate in the offline exhibition. So far, buyers from more than 200 countries and regions around the world have expressed their willingness to attend the exhibition on-site, and nearly 900 journalists from domestic and foreign media will attend the fair.
According to Wang Shouwen, a distinctive feature of the Canton Fair is specialization and digitalization. Since the Canton Fair, the online platform will be operated regularly to provide all-weather services for 39,000 exhibitors at home and abroad, so that hundreds of thousands of buyers around the world can purchase at any time without leaving home. We have also prepared for you a wealth of online products, up to 3.05 million pieces, including new products up to 800,000 pieces, green and low-carbon products up to 500,000 pieces, smart products up to 130,000 pieces, online exhibition and offline exhibition, mutual flow, interaction and mutual promotion, will create unlimited business opportunities for exhibition merchants around the world.
More than 250 professional service providers will attend the fair, providing supporting services for goods trade in logistics and warehousing, finance and insurance, research and development design, cross-border e-commerce and other aspects for participating enterprises. The Canton Fair will also continue to select design innovation awards. The fair will showcase award-winning works to encourage enterprise innovation. The extended intellectual property protection system will be further improved to realize the integration of online and offline protection. At the same time, a series of Pearl River International Trade Forum will be held at the Canton Fair. Currently, there are 5 main forums and 18 industry forums. These forums will focus on trade digitalization, investment system innovation and intellectual property protection in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Wang Shouwen said that today China’s economy is showing a positive trend for the better, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) recently raised its growth forecast for China’s economy. China is committed to the basic state policy of opening up and the win-win strategy of opening up, and continues to provide new opportunities for the world with its new development. In the first quarter of this year, China’s foreign trade showed a steady start, month by month to a good situation presented in front of everyone, which conveys a positive signal: China’s foreign trade supply capacity in the comprehensive recovery, China’s demand for world products is also gradually stabilizing.
Wang Shouwen also said that the main body of China’s foreign trade enterprises is more active, the first quarter of China’s import and export business reached nearly 460,000 enterprises, an increase of nearly 6%. Private enterprises account for 52% of the total value of foreign trade. Among the exhibitors participating in the Canton Fair, it is these outstanding representatives of the country’s foreign trade and export enterprises. We believe that China will be able to maintain a steady scale and improve the structure of its foreign trade, achieve the target of annual foreign trade growth and make our contribution to the recovery of the world economy.
It is understood that it was founded in the spring of 1957 and held in Guangzhou in the spring and autumn of each year. The Canton Fair is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, and organized by China Foreign Trade Center. It is a comprehensive international trade event with the longest history, the largest scale, the most complete commodities, the most buyers, the most sources, the best transaction effect and the best reputation in China. It is known as the first exhibition in China and the “barometer” and “weather vane” of China’s foreign trade.
The Canton Fair will be held in Guangzhou Pazhou Canton Fair Pavilion in three phases from April 15th to May 5th, and has also started to operate the online platform on a regular basis. The Canton Fair is the largest in history, with an offline exhibition area of about 1.5 million square meters and more than 34,000 enterprises participating offline. The total number of booths is nearly 70,000, among which 10,434 are brand booths, accounting for 15.34% of the total number of offline booths. There will be more than 2,000 brand enterprises participating in the exhibition, and more than 35,000 enterprises participating in the online exhibition.
