Plate Weld Flange

A Plate Weld Flange (PL Flange) is a flat, circular disc with bolt holes, designed to connect pipes, valves, pumps, and other equipment in piping systems. Unlike welding neck flanges (WN), plate flanges are simpler in design and welded directly to the pipe by fillet welding at the backside.
Key Features:
✔ Simple & Cost-Effective – Made from a flat plate, reducing material and machining costs.
✔ Easy Installation – Requires only fillet welding (no beveling needed).
✔ Wide Applications – Used in low/medium-pressure systems (water, air, oil, gas).
✔ Multiple Standards – Complies with ASME B16.5, B16.47, EN 1092-1, DIN, JIS.
✔ Material Options – Carbon steel (A105), stainless steel (SS304/SS316), alloy steel.
Common Types:
- Flat Face (FF) – For low-pressure applications.
- Raised Face (RF) – Improves gasket sealing.
- Customizable – Available in various thicknesses and coatings (galvanized, epoxy).
Typical Uses:
- Water & HVAC systems
- Petrochemical & industrial pipelines
- Food processing & pharmaceutical (stainless steel variants)
Plate weld flanges are ideal where cost efficiency matters, though they are not recommended for high-pressure/temperature services compared to WN flanges.
